Uploading a Floor Plan
Import your building floor plans as the foundation for your CCTV camera layout.
Supported File Formats
CCTVplanner supports the following file types for floor plan uploads:
- PDF files — multi-page PDFs let you select the specific page to use
- PNG images — raster images at any resolution
- JPG/JPEG images — standard photo format
How to Upload
Open your project in the CCTV Designer
Click the "Floor Plan" button in the left panel
Select "Upload Floor Plan" and choose your file
For PDF files, select the page containing the floor plan
The floor plan appears on the canvas as a background layer
Setting the Scale
Accurate scale is essential for correct field of view calculations and cable length measurements. To set the scale:
Click the "Set Scale" tool in the toolbar
Click two points on the floor plan that represent a known distance (e.g., a wall dimension marked on the drawing)
Enter the real-world distance in meters
The system calculates the pixels-per-meter ratio automatically
Working with Multiple Floors
Premium and Pro plans support multiple floors within a single project. Each floor has its own floor plan and an independent set of cameras, cables, and equipment.
- Add a new floor with the "+" button in the floor tab bar above the map
- Each floor can have its own floor plan image or PDF
- Switch between floors using the floor tabs
- Cameras and cables are floor-specific — they don't overlap between floors
Tip: For best results, use high-resolution floor plans with clearly marked dimensions. This makes it easier to set an accurate scale and produce professional-looking PDF exports.
