Reolink RTSP URL and ONVIF: paths, ports and how to switch them on
Reolink cameras serve RTSP on port 554 and ONVIF on port 8000, and both have to be switched on in the camera's port settings first. Then the paths below work in any recorder, VMS or VLC.

Reolink ONVIF
The default ONVIF port on Reolink cameras is 8000. Switch ONVIF on in the same port settings as RTSP, then add the camera to the other recorder or VMS by ONVIF on port 8000, or by the RTSP URL above.

How to test the Reolink RTSP URL
- Open VLC, choose Media > Open Network Stream, paste the URL and press Play.
- No picture? Try the sub stream. If that plays, the main stream is too heavy for the network or the player.
- For the codec, resolution and frame rate the camera actually sends:
ffprobe -rtsp_transport tcp "rtsp://…" - Once it plays in VLC, add it to the recorder or VMS by RTSP URL or by ONVIF.
Reolink RTSP questions
What is the Reolink RTSP URL?
rtsp://user:password@IP:554/Preview_01_main for the main stream and /Preview_01_sub for the sub stream. Older guides use /h264Preview_01_main and /h264Preview_01_sub.
Does Reolink support ONVIF?
Yes on most wired and Wi-Fi cameras and on Reolink NVRs and Home Hubs, with ONVIF on port 8000 by default. Battery cameras support it through a Home Hub, and 4G LTE cameras do not support it.
Why does my Reolink RTSP stream not play?
Most often RTSP is still switched off: turn it on in the port settings. Also avoid special characters in the camera password, and test the URL in VLC before adding it to a recorder.
How do I add a Reolink camera to another brand of NVR?
Switch ONVIF and RTSP on in the camera, then add it to the NVR by ONVIF on port 8000. If the NVR offers it, adding by RTSP URL works too.
