Perimeter intrusion + CCTV — one project
Design CCTV, PIR, beam barriers and fence detection in one tool
Place outdoor PIRs, photoelectric beam pairs and fence-tension detectors on the same map as your cameras. Detection patterns overlay live. The BOM ships one CSV with cameras, NVR, switches, Cat6, alarm cable and UPS — sized for the whole job, not the camera half.
Every pattern integrators actually use
Six detection geometries, all rendered live on the canvas as you drop each sensor. No external tool, no spreadsheet, no separate BOM.
Wall-mount PIR (wedge)
12 m × 90° wide-angle outdoor PIR, anti-masking, dual-tech PIR+MW options. Optex VX Shield (VXS-AM, VXS-DAM), HX-40, QXI, VXI, WXI series.
Ceiling 360°
Full circle coverage from a ceiling-mount sensor. Diameter scales with mounting height — 8 m at 2.4 m → 12 m at 3.6 m. Optex FX-360.
Boundary (two-sided)
Single sensor on a wall, two narrow curtains shooting left and right. 24 m total boundary coverage. Optex BX Shield (BXS-ST, BXS-AM).
Curtain PIR
Narrow 3-8° vertical slot, typical for window or door protection. Optex FlipX Standard.
Photoelectric beam barriers
Twin-beam barriers up to 60 m. Wired (Optex AX-70/130/200 TN) and battery-operated wireless (SL-100/200 TNR). Place transmitter and receiver in two clicks — line renders automatically.
Fence-tension detection (renderer support)
The designer can render fence-tension cable as a red dashed overlay on any drawn Fence entity. The current Optex catalog does not include a fence-tension product (FTN is actually a compact wall PIR); the overlay is reserved for Optex Smart Line / REDSCAN once those datasheets are added.
What makes this different
Camera-only tools (Hikvision iVMS, Axis Site Designer, JVSG) stop at cameras. Alarm-only tools (Risco Configurator, Bosch Easy Setup) stop at PIRs. We do both, in the browser, with one BOM.
CCTV + PIR + beam barriers in one project
Drop a camera, drop an outdoor PIR, drop a beam pair (TX + RX), drop a boundary detector along a wall — all in the same canvas. Cameras see PIRs, PIRs see cameras, the detection patterns overlay on the same map so coverage gaps are obvious.
Single integrator BOM
One PDF, one CSV: cameras + NVR + PoE switch + Cat6 cable + outdoor PIRs + alarm cable + UPS. Power draw of the detection subsystem rolls into the recommended UPS VA rating. No separate alarm BOM to reconcile.
Alarm cabling auto-calculated
Wall PIRs get a 15 m home-run estimate. Beam pairs get 30 m (both ends, single billing on TX side). Battery-operated SL TNR wireless beams contribute zero metres. The total length and cost per metre land in the BOM's Detection tab — installer-ready, no spreadsheet.
17 Optex SKUs out of the box
VX Shield / BX Shield / HX-40 / QXI / VXI / WXI panoramic / FX-360 / CX-702 / FlipX / AX wired beams / SL wireless beams / FTN "fit". Pattern, range, hfov, anti-masking, IP rating and mounting defaults all come from the manufacturer datasheets verified on 2026-05-13. Pick a model, click to place, no manual config.
Dual-tech (PIR + microwave) sensors recognised
Outdoor PIRs with microwave second-stage detection (VXS-DAM, WXI-ST) are flagged in the BOM with the PIR + MW pattern, IP55 outdoor rating, and the higher 35-50 mA current draw rolled into the UPS load calc.
Browser-based, no install

Can I design CCTV cameras and intrusion sensors in the same project?
Yes. CCTVplanner is the only browser-based tool that lets you place cameras, outdoor PIRs, photoelectric beam barriers, boundary detectors and (where the catalog supports it) fence-tension detectors on the same map and ships one combined BOM. Most competitors handle cameras OR alarms, not both.
Which Optex sensor models are supported?
17 SKUs as of 2026-05-13: VX Shield series (VXS-AM, VXS-DAM — 90°), HX-40AM (high-mount 85°), QXI-ST (120° wide-angle), VXI-ST (5-step range select), WXI-ST (180° panoramic), FX-360 (ceiling 360° true), CX-702 (wall PIR with switchable wide/long modes), BX Shield (BXS-ST, BXS-AM — boundary), FlipX Standard (rotatable wide/narrow), AX-70/130/200 TN (wired beam pairs), SL-100/200 TNR (wireless battery beams), FTN-ST ("fit" compact outdoor PIR). All pulled from the manufacturer datasheets we verified.
How do I design a beam barrier between two posts?
Open the Insert menu → "Detection sensor (Optex)…" → pick an AX or SL model. First click on the map drops the transmitter. The next click drops the receiver, and the line of detection between them renders automatically. The BOM bills 30 m of alarm cable per pair.
Is fence-tension perimeter detection in the catalog?
Renderer support is built in (a red dashed overlay traces any Fence entity an attached fence-tension product points at), but no fence-tension SKU is in the active Optex catalog yet. Optex makes fence-tension and laser perimeter products (Smart Line series, REDSCAN); we will seed those into the catalog when we have the datasheets. Earlier copy on this page misclassified FTN-ST as fence-tension — FTN is actually Optex's "fit" series of compact outdoor PIRs.
Will adding a second manufacturer be supported?
Bosch, Honeywell, Risco, Pyronix and Hikvision PIR series are on the roadmap. Optex was first because two paying customers asked back-to-back during the same week. If you use another brand, send the datasheets to contact@cctvplanner.io and we will add them.
